In September of this year I road tripped solo to the Great Salt Lake in search of the mythical pink waters that occur when environmental conditions are just right.

Right as the pandemic hit, my partner and I were worlds away on a long road-trip through the deserts of California and Utah.

I shot these images in Oregon’s coastal rainforests and Scotland’s lush countryside and city gardens. But for the sake of wonder let’s imagine they’re from an alternate universe where plants grow pink instead of green.

For years my imagination has been captivated by the idea of unexpectedly waking up in the middle of some stunning landscape with nothing by a nightgown and a pillow. A parallel universe… A timeless place where once can just relax and lean into curiosity and wonder and childlike play.

Mazda lent the car to me for a week of road-tripping, and I made the most of it!
